Its snowing in Glasgow !!!

Though I finished late, I was quite glad the winter sun was still shining onto Glasgow.

A heavy snowfall had painted the entire city white overnight whilst I was concuss under my duvet wondering why it had suddenly turned so cold.

Wondering through the streets, I could almost feel the spirit of Christmas approaching.

(All we need now is some carols playing in the background)

I m going to miss this place when I leave......

P.s. I lost my gloves..... ><

TGI Friday's Food Bloggers Cocktail Event

THANK GOD its FRIDAY~~~!!!

Well maybe not.. I am just trying to psycho myself out of the Monday Blues.

Anyhow. about a month ago I got an invite from the folks at 3 Monkeys to attend a food bloggers event at TGIF. *YEEkss* ~~First ever food event invite~~.. sadly, I turned them down because i was due back home in Singapore.. pRetty Gutted..

Thankfully.. by some divine intervention (TGIF). the event was postponed and hey hey.... suits up! and off we go.!

It was amazing to finally meet the other fellow bloggers TheGlasgowFoodBlog and WoWdeWow as well as the event organiser Chris at the bar top.

To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect but Chris and the TGIF staff were really friendly and helped us settled in. *With drinks of course!!*

TGIF have basically just introduce a new cocktail menu featuring over 60 cocktails to suit all types of tastebuds from the alcoholic to the non-alcoholic, from the wild and whacky to the mild and subdued. Ladies and Gents.. There's something for everyone. I even spotted an oreo cocktail...

O_o ~!!

One thing you don't want to miss at TGIF is the food. Pretty American style food with your usual fries and fixes. The platters were amazing. I really like the ribs but haha I din't manage to snap a shot because they were literally gone in a flash.

Just before we got on with the day's cocktail activties, Phil, the store manager brought out some platters for us to share.

As we started eating, he started telling us more about the history of how it was founded and its UK history. The story was really interesting but I was so engrossed in the food I was hardly was able to digest what he was saying. So.. here's a link for you to find out more.

While the story continued and the food was demolished by us, Ricky the bartender kept replenishing our drinks. Thanks mate. but you know... I am from the East and I can't take my alcohol well haha.

Ricky, the man behind the Bar.

Check out all his wee pins. !!! Each one has a special significance to it !!!

Eventually, we all got behind the bar and started to make our drinks of our own. Here's Briony with her Ghremlin.

Mark with his Mojito.

Graham, also made Mojito.

What's cocktails without some flaring. Ricky was on hand to show us some of his bartending tricks. Very smooth very slick. A great way to charm the gals I would say. Although they don't have any public courses just yet, Ricky hinted to me that there might just be something down the pipeline. So stay tuned to their website for more information.

Erm.. yea .. I broke something opps... lolol

The final activtiy of the day was a cocktail making competition between the four of us.

First up was Graham.

Graham's Creation. haha Sorrie man. I can't remember what you made but it tasted good. ;)

Next up Briony .

Here's her strawberry champagne creation.

Mark and his ultra intense Manhattan

Tada ! All our creations.

I am not kidding you but it came down to a tie between me and Graham and we had to do a shot pouring challenge.

*drumm rolllss....................................

I WON !!!!!!

Can't believe it myself but yea I managed to snag some TGI Friday's Vouchers.

haha guess that means I'll be returning for more food and cocktail soon aye ? haha

Thanks once again to Mark and Chris for organising the event, to Phil for the hospitality and Ricky for the cocktail tips.

Cheers !!!

Zizzi's AgaiN!!!

OK we were lazy again.....

and since the restaurant's at such a convinient location with ample seating all the time...

y not.

obviously the food's rather tasty which is why we always head back

Here's my seafood rissotto.... 12 pounds of seafoodish porridge haha.. I dont think my dad will like this despite his affection for seafood . Much of the smoked fish taste was infused into the rissotto. Rather than putting me off, I actually liked it. There were at least 6 prawns.. yes.. I counted.

Oh... the food here tends to be a little spicy.. even for me..

Lazyman Sambal Kangkong

Yes.. I am lazy... but I can't help it.. I m so busy at work..

I was intrigued by this sauce packet when C flashed it in front of me. Haha it was advertised as a sauce mix for fried rice but at the bottom right u can vaguely see that it can also be used as a sambal kangkong stir fry too.. Amazing...

It does fare well on the taste front...and I got a good kick out of frying it in my new gigantic stir fry wok that mom bought for me.

The only issue I have was that the vegetables cooled so quickly that it lost its flavour soon after reaching the table.. Haiz..

Do I care? nah..... Jia pui Oh!

Claypot Pig Trotters

I bought A CLAYPOTTT !!!...

It was sooo cheap man... 5 pounds for a large 30cm diameter earthern ware....

Anyway... I bought it sometime ago and haven't had a chance to use it..but before using it.... apparently you have to soak it in water so that when you heat it up, it reduces the chances of it cracking,

So.. I made pig trotters.. extremely easy dish to do... dump 2 pig hough, 10 cloves of garlic, 1 ginger, 1 star anaise, 1 clove, 4 measures of premium dark soy sauce. handful of rock sugar and cover with water. I boiled it for 1 hour in a pot before transferring it over to the claypot to simmer.

OInk~
