Egg Tarts from Waitrose

Hello all.... Still alive... post nights 2 days of break and I am back to back shift for 2 days and nights for 6 more days....

ANyway I shall clear some of the dust from this blog with this post about EGG TARTS!!!

I don't usually get so excited about them. Its not a must order for me at dim sum restaurants but the reason why I decided to blog about this is because.....

I found this great offer of 2 egg tarts for 69 p, 4 for 139p at Waitrose... ITs not even on OFFER and its already so cheap!!!...

At least I wont have to go all the way to Chinatown now to get an egg tart fix..

Taste wise it almost resembles the Chinese version but as u can see its much less jaundice in colour compared to its Asian cousin LOL..

This batch that I bought though din taste as great as the first batch.. Somehow it tasted more egg whitish and less sweet..

Nevertheless... I still quite enjoy them.. YUM YUM !!

Since its so cheap , get a batch the next time you drop by Waitrose, Byres Road

Root Beer Float !!!

This is truly a classic man. Remember the good ol'days of A & W and their famous root beer float served in a chilled mug!!!... Gone are the days when you can sample this simple yet awesome beverage.

I think you'll still be able to buy A & W root beer cans in Singapore or a substitute like Mug. Then again would you bother to make urself a mug to drink when there's so many other yummy stuff in Singapore waiting to be eaten???

Unfortunately for homesick ppl like us in the UK, we just have to make things from scratch. What's more unfortunate is that its extremely difficult to find root beer here....... I once bought a 1.5L bottle of A & W root beer from a Chinese super market which cost maybe 3 pounds... That is ex btw for a bottle of fizzy drink. Ironically, it was made in SINGAPORE LOL!!!!!.. The problem now is that they don't stock the drink.

Hey hey guess what... my dear flatmate Aa actually managed to find out who sells root beer through a ROOT BEER FORUM!!!!... -_-"" almost fell of my chair when I heard that LOL!.. Turns out that Asda sells Carter Root beer. Aa being Aa decided he should buy 18 cans of it. (6 cans for 1.5 pounds)

Oo.... yum yum scoop up some nice creamy and rice vanilla ice cream.

Watch the magic....Its always fascinating.. seeing the bubbles form.

Apparently its not your classic bicarb + Co2 reaction that gives rise to the bubbles but rather a chemical process called nucleation!!! ZUN BO???!!!!

Almost at the top and half a can of root beer still left....

We are officially a ROOT BEER LOVING FLAT!!!!!!!!

Custard Donuts from Tescos

These are the next best donuts to Krispy Kreme and you can get them at a fraction of the price. 69p ONLY for 5 pieces. Furthermore there was a 2 for 1 pound offer. ShioKness!

Look at the custard. Custard taste vanillaish in case you were wondering and obviously sweet. I had 4 out of the 5 pieces in one day. Its so good. I'll have to save one for breakfast tomorrow though.

Baguette Express not Panini Express!!

Align Centre

Yah I made the mistake of not reading literally into the stall name. Took me about 10 mins to queue up for the counter because of the lunch time crowd. Then it took another 10 mins for my panini to be done.

I had a standard tuna and cheddar cheese panini. What is a panini? Ah ha.. Here's where Prof wiki comes in. Panini is plural for Panino which is ITalian for bread roll which in French is called Baguette. It goes round in one big circle and ends up being the same thing. Anyway, in the UK at least, Panini is commonly described as a toasted flat bread with cheese. Kinda liek a toastie but using a bageutee Roll.

Was the wait worth it? maybe... something warm always taste nicer than the cold sandwiches but taste wise it was rather generic. Would I go back there again? hmm. tough one.. UNless I can find a panini that cost cheaper than 2.60 pounds I might do so .

Do you like Panini?

Vegetables are so expensive!!!!

All these vegetables cost 2.75 pounds. How is that possible man!!!!. .. Honestly, if veggies are going to be so expensive how do you expect people to maintain 5 portions of fruits/vegetables a day. I really should have bought them from cheapo iceland or tesco and not from "atas" roots and fruits..

My mistake... then again they tasted really good . especially the tomatos.. (P.S: I don like to eat raw/semi cooked tomatos but these were great)

A simple lunch

A simple lunch was what I had. Crisp, Bread and Water all for 2 pounds from Marks and Spark.
Wasn't as tasty as subway but it filled my stomach. Given a choice, I would choose mee pok ta or chicken rice anytime. I like things simple... Do you ?
