ConGratulations M & S

IMG_8044

I spent Sunday celebrating one of my closest friend's wedding at Amara Sanctuary Resort Sentosa. Truly, one of the most memorable events that the 5 of us have been involved in over the last 10 years.

Besides that, another excuse for me to make good use of my new lens hehehe.....

The food that day was fantastic, the only down side was that I didn't get to take many pictures of it as I was busy helping out with other stuff. The cold dish made a huge impression like literally. Other dishes that were worthy of note were the Japanese marinate Cod with bonito flakes and the Garlic fried rice.

Huge Congratulations to the both of you . Enjoy your Honeymoon !!!!

Congratulations !!!! A & C

028

After almost 8 years of courtship, My flatmates have finally tied the knot.
*sheds a tear of joy.
Was so glad that We all managed to make it for the wedding after a wee flight mishap at Dubai (O.D on Moet hahaha)

The wedding was held at the very nice Swiss Hotel: The Stamford where a 10 course banquet was served.

The classic cold dish comprised of a few interesting additions which I have not seen before. The salmon nigri was fresh and sweet. Char Siews an interesting one. Not commonly seen and certainly competently done. Although I much prefer it on a plate of rice haha. Salad prawn, spring rolls and crispy deep fried octopus make up the rest of the dish

062

I suspect my flatmates are Shark lovers although they've never mentioned it. A nice lobster soup was served rather than the controversial lobster soup. I had 2 good bowls, each with chunky bits of canadian lobster. YUm yum.

063

I love this... Scallops stir fried with asparagus and pine nuts. The sweet flavours of the nuts work in perfect harmony with the freshness of the scallops. Shiok!.
Ate 2 plates hahaha.

067

Chicken with prawn paste. Its a nice change from roasted chicken and most other chicken dishes I have had in the past.
I was suffering from lack of Singaporean food syndrome. So everything tasted exceptionally nice hahaha

Once again, I had to leave the wedding halfway to catch a flight. Din't get to finish the rest of the dishes.

C's mum made this cake all 3 layers including all the decorations.
Quite impressive eh.

Seafood Hut

Clockwise from Top left: Cereal Prawns, Black Pepper Crab,
Seafood special stew, spinach with 3 eggs in superior stock,
Bee Hoon Crab, Bai ling Gu with Greens, Special sauce pork ribs

This is officially the most expensive meal that I paid for in my life.

Then again, there were 22 other family members who were there to share in the feast.

Felt good that I could share my hard earn first pay cheque with everyone else.

LOL

Tung1's Farewell dinner at Lung Foong

Well, finally after months of contemplatating, Tung1 has decided to leave Glasgow for Down under in pursue of a different working life and maybe some hot Aussie dude. So.. her horde of friends decided to celebrate her departure with a dinner at the oldest restaurant in Glasgow, Lung Fung. Lung Fung's good for dim sum. The only times I have been here for dinner is during the Singsoc CNY Dinner. It can be hit and miss depending on what you order.

3 Roast, Very good!! Fragrant skin. Savoury Sauce

Monk Fish Pot. Love this dish. Chunks of fried monk fish with Roast port in a seafoodish sauce.

Shredded chicken with jelly fish. Needs to be a bit more sourish. Great as a cold appetitser not as a hot main dish.

Mince pork with Egg plant. Nicely done.

Sambal kang kong. Not hot enough la lol.

HK style sweet and sour pork. Good stuff if only the pork was crispier

Pipa Tofu. I was too slow. Din't get to try.

Salt and Pepper Squid. Why can't they have this in Singapore???

Yup all these for 12 pounds per head with UNLIMITED RICE... hence my 3 bowls. On top of the food, we get free karaok. Song list was extensive and pretty up to date.

Last but not least. Tung1's Birthday cake made by the expert Tung4. Since she won't be around for her birthday, we brought it forward.

Here's cake no.1 a vanillia sponge cake topped with assorted fruits. Fruits on top of cakes are very typical HK style decorations. Well, that's the observation that I made.

And.. cake no.2 . Look at how cute it is with the little tooth decorations. The black ones are decayed teeth. The reason why its full of teeth is because Tung1 is a dentish. I really like the creativeness of this decoration. 5*****

Yup... All the best Tung1 and keep in touch with us.

Tungsista4's Graduation Meal

We celebrated Tungsista4's graduation with a meal at the Grill on the corner. The place was furnished with a chic modern look for lots of dinning area and an adjoining bar area. The group of us were entitled to a long high table in a private corner.

Banger's and Mash made using Riley's Cumberland Sausages with mash and onion gravy

Chicken Pot Pie.

Sirloin Steak

11oz Ribeye

Queenie Scallops pan fried in garlic butter served with linguine.

Fish and Chips with some mushy peas on the side.

Chicken Fajitas with onions peppers and sides.

Sticky Toffee Pudding

Chocolate Tarte tatin?

The meal was good and the 40% discount made it all the merrier. I just wished they grilled the steak according to our preferences. It was slightly overdone and luckily I anticipated that and went for a lower degree of doness.

Thank you to TUng1 for buying the meal.

Steam Boat at the Tung's

Finally got to visit the Tung Castle. The name itself suggest it all. 3 storeys of ample floor space for 2 families and many many rooms. I told the sisters it must be a great place to play catching and they looked at me and said " Do you mean hide and seek?" . Same same la..

So the main dish of the day is ........ Steam boat or Dai bin lou. I know how to pronouce it but don know what it means. The stock was a simple chicken and pork rib version wtih lots of daikon in it.

The aunties and uncles made wantons and bought a huge box of noodles from the chinese super market. It was wanton noodle galore and i couldn't stop stuffing myself with the wantons. They were good !!!

This is perhaps the most intersting sauce which consisted of one raw egg, some chilli sauce, spring onions and a dash of soy sauce.

Mix it all up and this is what you get. I din't sample any of it :( Guess its my phobia of eating raw eggs. I think it must have tasted really good cos the sisters were slurping it up with their meats.

Here's the freshly made fish paste. Not too sure what type of fish went into it but it sure tasted fishy. Slightly under salted but at least I got to taste the genuine fish taste.

Everyone was really suprised when I started taking pictures of the watermelons. This I can explain... I never buy watermelons in Glasgow. Too expensive for such a small fruits and I am bound to get them in Singapore at a fraction of the cost. haha which was why when the fruit came out I ate like 4 slices. Yum..

After the fruits came the tang yuan. Reminds me of the ones that Grandma used to make only difference is that they din colour it red.

It was boiled in a sweet potato soup.

Heh heh. Some mahjong fun as well. Oh they don't play the animals like we do in Singapore.

And just when we were about to leave, Tungsista 2 brought some Krispy Kremes from London.. Super full man..

Thanks again for the Invite !!!
