Costa Cafe Dubai

Hello!.. I am back in Singapore but before I begin my food adventure back home, here's my carrot cake and mocha which I had at Costa Cafe in Dubai. I was going to upload it Dubai using the free wifi but apparently Flickr is blocked. BOO......

The mocha was unusually boring and the whipped cream had clotted up.. yucks. The carrot cake however was moise and well balanced by the creamy cheese spread. I'll try and make this at some point.

Finally.....

The picture tells it all. My exams are finally over and my flatmates have passed their exams. Just standing outside the wolfsen building, I felt this surreal feeling. A feeling so indescribable. I knew this was going to be one of the moments in life where I'll treasure so much but i am sure it will be superceded by my graduation. For now, I just want to savour the moment.

Thank you family and friends for all your encouragement and well wishes.

Cheers!

Celebratory Meal At Bar Budda

Well... the initial plan was to head to this nice french restaurant but C had to cover the evening shift as well so the great dinner plan has been postponed. So.. I ended up at bar budda for some food , great banter and company.

It was cod and my gut feeling tells me this was made fresh. I hope I am right. Mushy peas yum yum yum and atas hand cut wedges.

it was a 2 course meal for 12 quid and comes with a glass of wine or soft drink. OK la not too bad right.

Treat from M and S

A quick and simple lunch on Tuesday after Paeds. I wanted a little treat. I enjoy being with children but the subject paediatrics itself ain't my forte. The grilling 40mins may seem like a breeeze for some but for me, I was basically sweating in my pants lol.

Anyhoos, I ended up getting this beacuse I saw chicken and I saw pasta. Well, wasnt really thinking much but i thought let's just try.

Turns out the chicken was well seasoned with basil and a good amount of mayonaise. The pasta itself deserves a few thumbs up considering it was al dente and not mushy.

Totally worth the money spent. Oh I got myself some chocolate milk as well.. Good stuff. !!!!

Malmaison Glasgow

It was K's 26th Birthday party on sat so we headed off to town for a really good meal. For me it was also kinda a midway celebration for completing 2 out of 4 osce days. Haha, looking back it felt like an over indulgence. The food was too good liao and I even had wine. Hopefully, the alcohol din't wipe out too many brain cells in the process. Anyway, let's dig in!!!

Here's the lady preparing the Marrbury smokehouse hot smoked salmon. INterestingly it comes from some place in Dumfries. I couldn't help laughing because that's where K is working. http://www.visitmarrbury.co.uk/

Here we go with all the salad and a nicely wrapped lemon. The acidity of this dish was perfect.

Here's WY's Donald Russel steak. It was truely amazing. I had a piece from Aa. Perfectly done to a pinkish medium and the charring effect provided that fume which accentuate each meaty goodness.

Rosemarry and balsamic glazed chicken ballontine.

k's shoulder of lamb

Roast Cod, Boulangere potato, clam and mussel broth. Wah amazing man. The fish was fresh sweet and the skin was crispy like keropok. Don't be fulled by the seemingly tastely sauce. It was well rich and complement the fish really well. The mussels provided a nice contrasting texture to the fish yet exude this seafoodish taste. So fresh yum yum .oh and that potato thingy which i thought was a fish intially was great too. Nicely salted.

Roast Cod with a tomato sauce. Sorry I can't remember the name.

hmm.. I think this was the pear and raisin strudel with pear crumble ice cream which K had.

Sticky Toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce. A scottish favourite.

Trio of chocolate. I wasnt sure what it taste like. and I don't think I agreed with the presentation. Too boring liao.

Apple Tarte Tatin, mascarpone Ice cream.

Lastly, my creme brulee. Wah solid man and the base of the bowl was sprinkled generously with vanilla seeds. shiok!. However i realise that this was too much after a while and almost gave up halfway. I suggest u share this with some one.

Overall, this was an excellent meal. One of the best that I have had in Glasgow. Highly recommend everyone to come here.

Asian Gourmet

So Aa and I decided to check out Asian Gourmet before C comes back since she dosen't really like the food there. Just nice WY and FM have finised work and joined us.

Mei Cai Kou rou. Blogged about this previously. Good as ever but I wished it was a bit warmer when it come came out.

Sha Bo Tofu. This turned out to be more of a tofu soup rather than the gooey claypot version from SEA. OH well, might as well since WY wanted a soup. Not bad la. Tasted abit herby

La Zi Ji. Nice but WY commented that there were too many crispy bits and too little meat . I agree

Jiao Zi. Again WY wanted this. Tasted good with the vinegar. Wasnt superb on its own. Don't expect xiao long bao because its a jiao zi.

Bo cai (spinach?). Aa and WY love this dish. I thought it was good too. Not overpowered by the garlic

Oh and we had unlimited rice at 1.50 per pax. NOT BAD RIGHT!!.. I had 3 bowls plus LOL!

I have revived the chat box

It was created . It died not once but twice.. and now its alive again. Let see how long it survives this time.

Welcome CBox

2-35-35-35 Pizza hut delivery.

I guess only the Singaporeans will understand the 2-35-35-35 thingy and if you do you are probably damm old too becos the number's now 6-2353535. Pizzas.. don you love them . Life stories actually revolve around then. I recall my first pizza from Pizza hut was something called the singapura or the merlion which consisted of minced beef and capsicum. And then there were the teenage years where we would "chiong" (charge) at the pizza hut buffet counters. It was like die die must eat 8 slices and 2 plates of spaghetti before we go kinda bromance affairs. Oh wells, my stomach has obviously grown smaller, my tastebuds have refined in taste and i guess i am no longer growing as fast as I used to.

So fast track to UK... you get all sorts of weird and wonderful pizzas because they form quite a significant portion of a typical dinner here.

After much delibration, Aa and I decided to do the lazy thing and order in pizza for the first time. yes it was our first time ordering pizza in UK because most of the time we just get the cheapo versions from supermarket.

Decided to treat ourselves since he just had his interview and i jsut finished OSCEs (objectively structured clinical examinations) and most importanly we were in a can't be bothered mood. After half an hour we finally got our orders put through and within 30 mins.. *ding Dong!~

The one above is Aa and the one below is mine. Pretty solid eh. They were large ones 14" across. woopiE!. The only reason we went large was because we wanted stuffed crusts.

Aa ordered a custom pizza which included spicy beef, pepperoni, capsicum and anchovies. Quite a good combination actually. OH and he had proper stuffed crust.

I had the super supreme!. Onions, pepperoni, spicy beef, olives, mushroom, capsicum and .. tomato? .. Also I had the cheesy bites .

Obviously the amount of food was overkill. So i left half of it for dinner tonight.

In case you are wondering. Its buy one get one half price. so it amounted to 20.99 pounds .. Ok la for the quality that we get.

Pineapple Tarts from Home

My mum did it again. I think Dad had an involvement as well as they both sneakily passed some stuff to Aa to bring back for me despite my constant reminders that its ok haha. I guess she knows that I crave pineapple tarts too much lol.

The tasted really good. Definately a booster as I resume my hectic week of OSCEs.

The only problem is ... what am I going to do with the dates?!!!?!?! the last packet from 2 CNY ago sat in my living room for 2 years..!!!!>. lol..

P.S ..... only 2/3s of the tub left...... :(

Fried Rice !! from the Tungs

Really sweet of Auntie ML, LingT's mum to make some fried rice for me. She gave me two huge packets which I ate for lunch and dinner. I must say they were really good and tasted better than the ones u get at the average takeaway store plus there were like chunks of roast pork and duck in it. Not bad rite@!. .. Craving for more now.. lol!!

Thank you very MUCH!!
