La Vallee Blanche

You've probably passed this restaurant multiple times as you walk along Byres Road but paid little attention to it. Its ok... I've missed it many times too. After all its only an entrance, 2 barrels, some flowers and 2 sign boards and the restaurant name which is not situated at eye level. LITTLE did I know that this restaurant is actually a gem among the best restaurants on Byres road.

If would you just venture a little further in, this posh flight of stairs will take you to the restaurant located on the 1st floor.

Lots of wood finishing and spot lightings actually makes this quite a romantic restaurant or so I heard from my Aa

La Vallee Blanche prides itself on using French cooking techniques to turn locally sourced produce into masterful creations: Beautiful yet flavourful at the same time.

Crusty bread and really good creamy butter with coarse salt.

Spinach, Wild garlic & Pea soup, Goat's Cheese Cream. I like the creative use of cream to make a leaf design.

K's Yummy Salad.

Grilled Onglet Salad, Haricots Verts, Cornichons, Red Onion & Arran Mustard. This was lovely. The beef was done to almost a medium rare but I simply love the "moo-moo" taste of it. Onglet btw is cut of beef steak that is said to hang from the diaphragm of the Steer. Due to its proximity to the kidney, it has been said to be more flavourful.. Hmm... Really?

Special of the day: K's Roasted Lamb done medium well. Quite good grill control eh.

Crisp fillet of Gurnard, Spiced Choucroute, Morteau Sausage & Split Beef Dressing.

Grilled Pork Chop, Pommes Puree, Roasted Lemon, Plum Tomato, Green Olive & Herb Salsa. The charred bits of pork made this piece of meat really yummy. I thought the centre portion of meat was a little dry but the tomatoes helped abit in keeping each mouthful moist.

Special of the Day: Roasted Salmon with Asparagus

Puff Pastry Galette of Ragstone Goat's Cheese, Beetroot & Caramelised Onion, Spring Vegetables. (Vegetarian Option)

Finally, Complementary Melt in the mouth Toffees to end of the meal.

We were too full for dessert but they really looked GOOD!!!

I highly recommend all of you to head down to his French restaurant for a meal someday especially if you wanna impress cos I am sure the lovely staff would be more than happy to assist you.

Did I mention they even have a
sommelier?
